Thoughts in General

So I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! The office is usually quiet the week of Christmas so I took the time to enjoy my family but also to do some overdue organizing and cleaning in my office. Traveled Christmas day up to my oldest daughter's in Waltham as her job prevented her from coming to the Cape for the holidays... we all surprised her on Christmas Day at her back door with gifts and Christmas treats. She had resolved herself of the fact that she would spend Christmas eating whatever was in her fridge and watching movies alone, but I would not have that! We convinced her to come home with us overnight and I drove her back up to work the next day before the big storm hit us... It was the best Christmas and I know it meant alot to her that we came up to get her. Kayla got a really nice camera from us so I fully expect that she will be taking some amazing photos of The Perfect Plan's events this summer! Michael my six year old spent his time putting together the 890 piece lego set we got him and I cannot believe how diligently he works on that stuff! He only stopped to eat and sleep for two days til it was fully assembled. I am ready to roll with my first wedding of the new year on January 8th at the fabulous and elegant Chatham Bars Inn. It is for military couple and I am so excited to be helping them plan their winter wedding.
My wedding season seems to get longer and longer which I don't mind that just means we are staying busy and the company continues to grow and proper. The Cape & Islands Wedding Group is thriving as well with almost fifty members and our first Bridal show coming up in February at Willowbend. 2010 was a fantastic year all the way around and I cannot wait for 2011 and all the new endeavors I am planning to unfold.

Holiday Sentiments from The Perfect Plan

So the planner in me decided that I would be really organized and get all my holiday shopping done early....mission accomplished, weeks ago I finished all shopping and everything was wrapped and under the tree by December 15th. Then I realized that my children did not inherit my "plan ahead" attribute.. so to my dismay I have been back to the craziness of the malls too many times to count in the past week or so. Oh to be 16 again...and not driving yet..ugh! I don't think they realize that mom wants to sit back, have some hot cocoa or better yet a Starbucks peppermint latte and do NOTHING! I don't expect them to fully grasp that planning weddings here at The Perfect Plan never really ceases. We seem each year to get busier even around the holidays with more of our brides coming in from all over the country to plan their Cape Cod weddings. I love what I do and am very passionate about it just as passionate as I am about getting all my shopping done way early! Over my Christmas break I will be planning some weddings, meeting with clients and new interns, and working hard on The Cape & Islands Wedding Group Bridal Event that will take place on February 5th. But you can bet I will be sneaking in some family time, peppermint lattes, and maybe even a good book! It is so rewarding this year to be getting Christmas cards from my previous clients, to be remembered by them even after their weddings are complete. I find the more I do this job, the more I realize that being a wedding planner is not only functional but also relational. I treasure the relationships that we have built with our clients and friendships we have made. We wish all our clients both current and previous a very Merry Christmas! Take the time to breathe and soak it all in as just like a wedding day, the holiday goes by in a flash!

Wequassett Wedding Summer 2010

The Perfect Plan jumped in on this wedding after most of the planning had been done by our New York City bride.  She did a fantastic job creating an amazing vision for her wedding and we were estatic to step in and take the stress from her the few months before her big day.  Sara was amazing to work with , focused, creative and appreciative of our help.  We love working at Wequasset, her venue and the weather could not have been more beautiful.  We stayed late that night orchestrating the transportation of her guests back to their hotels and overseeing their after party at The Outer Bar and Grill.  Guests enjoyed the late night drinks fireside with the gorgeous pool and ocean as their incredible view. Hope you enjoy our favorite shots from their event.

Bourne Farm Wedding

We love Bourne Farms for a great cape wedding.  It is a gorgeous piece of property with lots of room for creativity and vision.  We did an amazing wedding this past June for a Boston couple with family ties to Cape Cod.  Though the weather was not cooperating, we effectively put our rain plan into play and all our vendors pulled together to relocate their ceremony from the back field to underneath the tent. Our thanks to the fabulous vendors we so enjoyed working with to create this flawless wedding for our clients:

This wedding completely inspired us this year.  We worked for a long time with this bride and her parents to design a destination wedding with personal touches.  The bride, a doctor from Houston, wanted to have her wedding on Cape Cod in the Pocasset area as that is where her grandparents live and she fondly remembered her wonderful summers on Cape Cod.  We found her an amazing private beachfront estate on Wings Neck with a wonderful view.  Planning was put into motion beginning that first weekend we met with a whirlwind of vendor interviews.  Since the reception menu was very important to our couple we brought in our fabulous and favorite Newport Caterer, Blackstones Caterers to provide the delectable menu for the one hundred fifty plus guests.  Judy Fligg from All About Flowers for Weddings amazed us all with her incredible floral design including a customized chuppah for the onsite ceremony.
This event took place on Labor Day weekend and we took on the task of planning their three day event.  Hurricane Earl quickly threw a major kink in our plans as my tent install was delayed due to pending weather. Our bride remained calm as we busily worked on altering schedules and back up rehearsal dinner plans.  With all eyes on the forecast and hoping our out of state guests would all arrive in time, we watched as the storm turned off coast and the skies gleaned with the sun on Friday afternoon.  Thanks to Sperry Tents as their staff efficiently installed our tent with just enough time for my team to set up the rehearsal dinner for one hundred guests on Friday night.  Rentals Unlimited also moved mountains for us to get our rentals delivered as soon as the tent was up in the air!  The events went off smoothly and we all breathed a sigh of relief once our tent was adorned with the beautiful design touches our team worked so hard to complete.  We loved working with this family to help them create the wedding of their dreams.  We hope you enjoy the glimpses of their day.  Special thanks tp Matt Stone Photography for capturing the true essence of this event!

Jen from Dulce Press designed amazing stationary including the invitations, save the dates, ceremony programs and table numbers for this event.
The Bartending Service of New England provided our bars for the weekend and The Lobster Trap did an awesome job on the Clambake rehearsal dinner!
We could not have asked for better clients or better weather!

Beautiful estate!
